GENERALI BERLIN HALF MARATHON - the sightseeing course
Sightseeing on the run
The amount of historical and cultural monuments that can be seen in a short space of time at the GENERALI BERLIN HALF MARATHON is something that no amount of speedy touring can match. With the Victory Column at your feet and the Brandenburg Gate behind you, the first few meters of the race are so brilliant. Past the Technical University, across Ernst-Reuter-Platz, the first four kilometers lead straight on to Charlottenburg Palace. Here, at the first sharp left turn towards Kurfürstendamm, the already established samba band Alegria no Samba has its regular spot. Many of the fans who come to this first hot spot to cheer on the runners are well aware of this.

Increased number of cycles in City West
After two kilometers to the south, the Ku'damm is reached. On Berlin's most popular shopping street in City West, the number of live musicians increases, more and more people line the route and the atmosphere rises. The route passes the Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Church and Wittenbergplatz, home to the venerable KaDeWe department store, via Nollendorfplatz to Potsdamer Straße.

Through Berlin's historic center
After Potsdamer Platz, you approach the center of Berlin with the towering television tower on Alexanderplatz. On the way to Germany's tallest building at 368 meters, you pass the entire length of the historic Gendarmenmarkt. Recognized as Berlin's most beautiful square with the Schauspielhaus, the French and German cathedrals, it is the turbulent hot spot of the route. From here, the route runs past the Berlin Palace to the former start and finish area of the Berlin Half Marathon around Alexanderplatz. The event center was located here between 1990 and 2019 before moving to the heart of Berlin at the Brandenburg Gate.

New course: even faster, even more attractive
To make the course of the spring classic even faster and more attractive for runners, the new route runs for 2.5 km in the opposite direction past the Berlin Palace and the Rotes Rathaus to the turning point on Karl-Marx-Allee. Fans, live bands, running crews and hot spots will also have completely new perspectives for interaction when the half marathon caravan passes them twice. The last few kilometers on the long home stretch along the magnificent boulevard Unter den Linden are like a rush.

Final meters like a rush
The Brandenburg Gate, the symbol of Berlin's division, 150 meters before the finish line, is the emotional highlight of every finisher. It doesn't get any more thrilling than this! From here on, it's all about celebrating.
The course is flat and particularly fast, so it's always good for trying to beat your personal best. And the course with its many historical sights is spectator-friendly anyway. All interesting points and hot spots can be easily reached by underground or suburban train or by bike.
Have fun & great experiences at the GENERALI BERLIN HALF MARATHON
