Two weeks ago the 21st AVON Running Berlin Women’s Run took place in the
Tiergarten Park with 11,142 girls and women participating (running, jogging,
walking, and Nordic walking)—and training for the 22nd Women’s Run
in 2005 has already begun.
Every Saturday at 5 pm interested girls and women can jog through the
Tiergarten Park with the experienced running experts from SCC RUNNING, Dirk
Borgert and Dr. Detlef Kuhlmann. Already on Whit Saturday, about a dozen women
got together for a relaxing run and a chance to talk about their experiences at
Germany’s largest running event that took place on May 22, 2004.
Training is free, and there is no pre-registration. This extra training that
is just for women between 16 and 66 (or older) takes place year round. In the
winter the amount of light changes, but not the meeting time!
There are no changing or showering facilities. The meeting place is the same
as always—near the bus stop at the Haus der Kulturen der Welt on
John-Foster-Dulles-Allee in the city district of Tiergarten-Mitte. You can run
either a 5k or 10k loop on pathways through the Tiergarten and the government
quarters—just “stop by the Chancellor!“
By the way - The 22nd AVON Running Berlin Women’s Race is planned for
May 21, 2005.
