The party in Goldrausch last year was, so to speak, for insiders only. This
year for the first time there will be an official After-Skate Party of the
real,- BERLIN MARATHON for Inline Skaters. A spectacular location has been
found in the not yet opened subway station “Reichstag“. The cold
dark rooms are currently being transformed into a unique and atmospheric party
zone. You can expect an unusual and fun evening. The party starts at 9
p.m.—entrance is free for all marathon participants, for partners and
friends a small contribution will be collected. And in addition to the
presentation of the Skater of the Year 2004, the champions of the real,- BERLIN
MARATHON and the World Inline Cup will be presented again as well!
In addition, the first images of the race that morning will be shown.
“Skater Opening” at the BERLIN VITAL fair
There will be a Skater Opening at the BERLIN VITAL fair to start off the
marathon weekend on Friday, September 24 in Hall 22A, where there will be an
on-stage programme from 3:30-9 p.m. on the topic of inline skating. Discussions
about new technology, training and materials, as well as talks with top
athletes of the World Inline Cup, WIC, will be on the programme. In addition a
film with specific pointers on the course will be presented.
The Skater Opening will be complemented with the Inlinenews Meeting Point next
to the stage, as well as with the pasta lounge with freshly prepared
new-quality pasta.
Inlinenews Meeting Point
There is a new concept behind the idea of the "Inlinenews Meeting Point
". This Meeting Point, organised jointly by the internet port
“Inlinenews.de” and the real,- BERLIN MARATHON is designed to be a
place for getting together and communication. Several skate companies and other
service providers from the sport are integrated as partners. This will
hopefully make an intensive exchange of ideas and topics on the future of
inline skating possible. On Saturday, the Meeting Point will be located in the
Inline Village.
Inline-Village
For the first time this year there will be an Inline Village at the Brandenburg
Gate, right next to the Reichstag. Almost the entire inline industry will be
represented, offering skates to test out as well as helpful information. There
will be an entertaining programme and refreshments to keep you happy and in
good spirits. One highlight will be the award ceremonies for both the marathon
and the World Inline Cup at about 2:30 p.m. Following will be an exciting
drawing of valuable prizes for all participants present. We look forward to
greeting you there before the race (starting at 8 a.m.) and afterwards too, of
course.
For many of you this is also the grand finale of what was certainly an
exciting 2004 season. The World Inline Cup (WIC) will also be carrying out
their final race together with over 8,000 participants. Both elite skaters as
well as those who skate just for fun will attempt to reach their personal goals
in this extraordinary race together.
Starting Blocks
Through an improved starting block division, an optimal and safe start phase
should be possible for each participant. To do so, the time division for the
starting blocks has been reworked. In addition we have development a wide
system of safety signs that can be viewed before the race online.
Difficult passages available via “live-Stream“ online The most
difficult passages on the course will also be presented at the "Skater
Opening" at the fair on Friday in a film about the course, which can also
be viewed on the internet via "live-stream". The newly designed
"Skater-Info" will be distributed with the race numbers and include
more important information about the course, getting there, and the start and
finish area.
Skater Schedule ... my marathon weekend
To assist you in planning your marathon weekend, and to assure that you do not
miss the highlights, we are offering you a “Skater Schedule...my marathon
