Olympic marathon
bronze medallist Deena Kastor was in record breaking form when winning the
Jefferson Hospital Distance Run in Philadelphia. Kastor in perfect conditions, smashed the 21-year-old American
half marathon record with a winning time of 1:07:53. That bettered by 41 seconds the previous US mark for the 13.1
miles distance achieved by Joan Benoit and also lowered the course record of
1:08:30 set by Kenya's Catherine Ndereba four years
ago.
