During the past few days, every participant in the 29th real,- BERLIN-MARATHON
was mailed an envelope by SCC-RUNNING, titled "Wichtige Unterlagen"
(Important Documents).
The letters went out to participants from 86 countries. They contain the
much-coveted entry confirmation including information about the race bib number
assigned to the recipient.
For this purpose, many busy volunteers had to move and package 3,280
kilograms (3.2 tonnes) of printed paper. The "Important Documents"
acquaint the prospective participants with all details of the "running
event of the year". Each letter contains eleven documents, from the
confirmation of entry to the time schedule of the race and all accompanying
events staged during the marathon week in Berlin.
They also inform the runners about certain technicalities such as how to
find your way to the race number desk in the fairground beneath the
"Funkturm" radio tower, how to handle the timing CHIP, or how to
return your assigned race number should illness or injury prevent you from
participating.
Among the other documents are sheets depicting the course map of the race,
as well as illustrating the starting place of the Breakfast Run at
Charlottenburg Castle and its finish at Olympiastadion.
Also included is an appeal by well-known marathon runner and former world
record holder Tegla Loroupe to run for charity and raise funds for the
"Deutsche Welthungerhilfe" organisation. You may also order
photographs with the official picture service MarathonFoto, as well as the
provisional results listings the day after the race (Monday).
Ahead of the event you will have the opportunity to leaf through the
enclosed "official event collection" catalogue and order your
preferred gifts and articles online via the real,- BERLIN-MARATHON
souvenir web shop – or buy them later at the marathon exhibition. And
don’t forget to early dedicate your preferred piece of music to be played
on the special "Marathonwelle" radio program during the race.
